When I was in college performing my student teacher duties I became aware that many children with special learning abilities were not able to get their needs met in a regular school setting. I then postponed my graduation, designed my own program of study, and completed a year of independent study. I performed an internship in a tutoring agency designed for children with special needs, started work on an art therapy certificate (I am also an artist), studied creative writing using special needs in education as my focus of study (I am also a professional writer).

Your child is my main priority. I interview you and your child in an initial free one-hour consultation to determine your specific needs. I work with you to help your child receive exactly what your child needs to succeed. I want you to give me all the information you can about your child - you know your child best. If for some unforeseeable reason my individualized instruction doesn’t help your child, I’m willing to stay with you and find a solution that does work for you. So far, no one’s asked me to do that.

Sometimes I recommend testing by an educational psychologist, Dr. Jennifer Gatt. I recommend you take your child to her for one day of testing; she can then generate a report which will detail your child’s exact problem, which areas of the brain I need to focus on during education, specific exercises to use, and specific recommendations for your school to follow in order to accommodate your child.
